Although frightened, lonely and homesick, Belle decides to accept her fate and embraces her new life as a prostitute, even finding she quite likes it. Lespey you're looking for an easy read, a story where you can root for the main character and a lighter version of a prostitution story then Belle is your book. I'm glad I've finally read a Lesley Pearse book as Belle is an enjoyable read, being both well-written and meticulously researched.
Also, her many failed attempts at escape get annoying after a while. The Alchemist Paulo Coelho. I have enjoyed every one of Lesley's books but really think that this is up there with my favourites - alongside 'Never Look Back'. An enjoyable and entertaining read, let down a little by Pearse's eagerness to drive the story onwards just a bit too quickly at times. Truth is often stranger than fiction and Lesley's life has been as packed with drama as her books.

For some unknown reason Lesley Pearse has passed me by as a novelist, so I was interested to read her latest release Belleafter reading so many favourable reviews of her other books. Belle doesn't stay in one place for very long throughout the novel and this is where I started to feel disappointed.

But my biggest source of disbelief with this book aside from being oblivious from the fact that she lived in a whorehouse was Belle's unwavering innocence and determination.

Despite the fact that Belle is almost pages long it really does engage the reader, I found it difficult to put it down bellw the story is so quickly paced, full of fabulous characters and I was willing Belle along at a every step.
Subject matter is interesting and uncommon, but Belle as the main character ruins it for me.
There's a clear sense of the story being moved constantly onwards, almost as if Pearse is afraid her readers will become bored, or that they will find Belle's story a bit shallow in places.
