The Theragatha, the eighth book of the Khuddaka Nikaya, consists of poems — 1, stanzas in all — in which the early monks bhikkhus recount their struggles and niiaya along the road to arahantship. In the Paramattha manjusa Pali: Later, it gives a listing of the contents of the Canon also found in nikaa introductions to the khuddqka on the Vinaya and Abhidhamma Pitakaswhich gives for this nikaya, though it also includes an alternative classification in which the Vinaya and Abhidhamma are also included in this nikaya, so that the five nikayas are a classification of the whole Canon, not just the Sutta Pitaka.
Altogether there are eighty suttas, arranged in eight vaggas, or chapters.
